In the latest round of funding by Music Australia, over $1 million has been pledged to support 79 Australian musicians in international activities.

The Export Development Fund is a new grant program that announced its inaugural round back in June, where $1.45 million was invested in the support of projects by 98 artists and organisations.

Funding is matched and awarded across three areas of international export: Performance and Touring Activity ($5,000–$25,000), Professional and Artistic Development ($3,000–$15,000), and Market and Audience Research ($2,000–$10,000).

Notable among the latest recipients are Gondwana Choirs, who will take Marliya to London’s Barbican Centre. Marliya is an all-female group first formed from members of the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir in Cairns to perform Spinifex Gum, a modern Australian song cycle by Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill of The Cat Empire.

Gondwana Choirs has been awarded $25,000 under the Performing and Touring Activity category.
