Sydney’s Barangaroo will again become a harbour-side stage this winter, with a free live music series, Nocturne, returning to Pier Pavilion for four weeks of after-dark performances from 3–25 July.

In its second season, Nocturne will present a program curated by Musica Viva Australia, bringing together contemporary classical music, string quartet and genre-crossing ensemble performances, opening on 3 and 4 July with a collaboration between cellist Freya Schack-Arnott, Irish-Australian singer-songwriter Bonnie Stewart and double bassist Ben Ward. The trio will explore Irish and Scandinavian folk traditions alongside ambient soundscapes and original compositions.

The acclaimed classical guitarist Karin Schaupp will perform solo on 10 and 11 July, followed by Sydney-based Enigma Quartet on 17 and 18 July. The series concludes on 24 and 25 July with Elysian Fields, a four-piece group combining keyboard, voice, saxophone and electric viola da gamba in a sound world that moves between jazz, folk, medieval and classical influences.

Free and open to the public, Nocturne performances begin at 6pm each Friday and Saturday evening, with the venue opening from 5.30pm. The series is easily accessible via public transport, including the Barangaroo Metro station.

Drinks and light snacks are available at Pier Pavilion and Barangaroo’s surrounding dining and retail precinct offers further options before and after each show.

Nocturne is at Pier Pavilion, 3 Barangaroo Avenue, from 3 to 25 July 2026. More information here.
