Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

In its newly-announced 2023 season, Southern Cross Soloists (SXS) will celebrate the romance and nostalgia of journeys. Each of the three mainstage concerts at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), where the ensemble currently serves as company-in-residence, will feature principal SXS musicians performing alongside international and Australian guest artists. In a continuation of its Didgeridoo Commissioning Project, launched in February 2022, two of the concerts will include world premieres of new works for didgeridoo and chamber music ensemble. 

SXS will also launch a new Sunset Soiree Recital Series at the Judith Wright Centre foyer, spotlighting emerging young Queensland soloists, accompanied by established SXS performers, while the Bangalow Music Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

“Throughout history, composers and musicians were often extensive travellers and these constant journeys have frequently been the inspiration behind some of the greatest masterpieces in classical music,” said SXS Artistic Director Tania Frazer.
