A new work by Rafael Bonachela, plus a double bill featuring a world premiere by Antony Hamilton.

Sydney Dance Company’s 2018 season marks Rafael Bonachela’s tenth year as Artistic Director and it will include his first full-length work since 2 One Another and Project Rameau in 2012. The centrepiece of the upcoming season, Bonachela’s ab [intra], Latin for ‘from within’, is described as an exploration of human impulse and the extremes of human nature. Bonachela’s latest collaboration with composer Nick Wales, ab [intra] is a fitting opener to the new season and will be toured across the country.

In October, Bonachela’s acclaimed Frame of Mind, which premiered in 2015, appears on a double bill with a brand new work by Antony Hamilton’s called Forever & Ever. Winner of four Helpmann awards, Frame of Mind explores the volatility of the human psyche. It is choreographed to a score by Bryce Dessner from The National and recorded by the Kronos Quartet, with sets by Ralph Myers. Read Limelight’s 2015 review here.
