The Australian Ballet has announced that the company will tour to the Royal Opera House in London in August 2023 as part of the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

It will be The Australian Ballet’s first appearance on the Royal Opera House stage in 35 years, since it presented The Sleeping Beauty in 1988.

In what will be the first international tour for TAB under the leadership of Artistic Director David Hallberg, the company will perform its critically lauded production of Nederlands Dance Theater’s Kunstkamer – the first staging of the work presented outside of the Netherlands and one of the most ambitious productions ever mounted by The Australian Ballet. Choreographed by Paul Lightfoot, Sol Léon, Crystal Pite and Marco Goecke, it employs more than 40 dancers, often in intricate mass formations.

The company will also present a single performance of a 60th Anniversary Celebration showcasing elements of its signature repertoire.

The touring party will be the largest one TAB has sent overseas, made up of more than 100 dancers, musicians, wardrobe, medical, technical, production and support staff. The staging and costumes...
