Opera Australia has announced the appointment of Francis Greep to the newly created role of Head of Young Artist Program. He steps down from the role of Executive Director of the Sydney-based The Song Company (a position he’s held for five years) to take up the OA position.

The move will be “bittersweet” said Greep. “I will miss my incredible colleagues hugely.”

In his new role, commencing September 2024, Greep will collaborate with OA Artistic Director Jo Davies and Young Artist Program Producer Jane Hennessy to help the company nurture new talent via the company’s Young Artist Program, an initiative designed to support and develop emerging artists through employment and professional development opportunities.

A sought-after recitalist, music director, vocal coach, and chorus master, Greep has previously worked with Opera Australia and held key positions at West Australian Opera and Houston Grand Opera. Recognised for his expertise in preparing singers across classical styles, Greep brings a deep knowledge of vocal production, languages, repertoire and performance psychology to the new role.
