Youtube sensations Brett Yang and Eddy Chen of musical comedy duo TwoSet Violin have announced that they will be stepping back from their online presence to pursue individual creative projects.

Amassing over 4.3 million subscribers across 13 years, the duo thanked fans for their support and said “for the last 12, 13 years, we’ve kinda put TwoSet as a main focus and the time has come where we feel we have personal projects and stuff we want to do, and that calls for our attention.”

In 2024, the duo made a cryptic Instagram post announcing their apparent end, before returning after less than a year later with a new video and futher dates for its Sacriligious Games world tour.

In their most recent YouTube video It’s been a fun journey, the pair said the move will allow them to “go and pursue our own individual projects”.

“I hope that you guys can support both of us for that. That would mean a lot.”

Violinists Brett Yang and Eddy Chen began their Youtube channel towards the end of their studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2013, initially posting pop music covers. After their shift into comedic videos about their time studying music, the channel quickly gained popularity, giving the duo opportunities for live performances and touring.

TwoSet have completed several world tours and recently performed their homecoming tour Sacreligious Games, playing in Sydney Opera House in June this year and selling out numerous shows.

“I have people coming up to me every day saying they picked up an instrument or started a conservatory degree because of our content,” Yang told Limelight earlier this year. “It feels amazing to see that we’re actually making an impact and helping people love classical music again . . . It’s humbling, and I have so much admiration for them and everyone giving it their best shot!”

The channel has been commended for making classical music accessible and more relevant to new and younger audiences, collaborating with internationally renowned artists including Hilary Hahn, Lang Lang, Janine Jansen, James Ehnes and Maxim Vengerov.

“We’re really glad that many of you have picked up an instrument because you’ve watched our videos. We’re really happy that we can leave that mark for you, and we hope that you continue finding joy and love in practicing all the music that you’re doing… I hope you keep practicing.”
