Voting has opened for ABC Classic’s annual Classic 100 Countdown. This year, Countdown is on the scent to find Australia’s favourite instrument.

The Limelight office votes are currently split – two for cello, one for piano, and one for the baroque trombone.

Chosen from across genres and cultures, ABC Classic offers a list of 250 instruments to choose from, though voters are also able to add their favourite instrument to the list manually if it doesn’t appear. Up to 10 instruments may be chosen, and the results will be broadcast on both ABC Classic and ABC Jazz.

“We can’t wait to find out what instruments our listeners love hearing, and what will be Australia’s number one,” said Kat McGuffie, ABC Classic and ABC Jazz Content Manager, who listed her favourite choice as the dulcitone.
