When Hamilton premiered in Sydney in March 2021, anticipation surrounding Lin-Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking, wildly ambitious, multi-award-winning musical was off the charts.
Not only were Australian audiences excited at the chance to see the show live, but it was the first production of Hamilton to open anywhere in the world following the COVID-19 lockdowns. The buzz was insane – and the production more than delivered.
After touring to Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand, Hamilton is back in Sydney for a return season. So, how does the production fare three and a bit years on when it not only has so many runs on the board, but some of the initial buzz has subsided? Suffice to say, it’s still a thrilling night in the theatre.
