If film music is your thing a new album on the Yellow Label will get you breaking out the popcorn. This reviewer would normally reach for the DVD shelf rather than play a soundtrack, but the concert disc of John Williams in Vienna shows that the 88-year-old Hollywood veteran is not only the most influential film composer of all time but one with some serious classical chops.

He studied composition with Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco before attending Juilliard, and as well as his six-decade filmography he has written two symphonies, 11 concertos, a cycle of orchestral songs and various items of chamber music, as well as conducting the Boston Pops and several leading orchestras.
