Through his unique style, Astor Piazzolla brought a mix of musical forms to the world that has changed the face of music everywhere.

Following Piazzolla’s quintet of the 1960s, the Quinteto Astor Piazzolla, initiated by his widow, Laura Escalada Piazzolla, aims to keep his voice being heard and recorded so that new generations do not miss out on his inimitable creations.

The players in Quinteto Astor Piazzolla are: Pablo Mainetti (bandoneon), Bárbara Varassi Pega (piano), Serdar Geldymuradov (violin), Armando de la Vega (guitar) and double bass player Daniel Falasca, who took to the stage on this occasion with the Argentinian Ambassador and many Spanish-speaking people in attendance.

With Mainetti centre stage driving the music on his bandoneon, this group is the closest you can get to hearing the late maestro live. The rhythms and passion the quintet generates in every piece show this to be a living music.
