Australian National Academy of Music: ANAM Masterclass: Lucas Debargue (piano)
1 June @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm AEST

Each year, ANAM presents a series of masterclasses by some of the world’s leading classical instrumentalists and pedagogues, given as part of their work with our musicians on repertoire, technique and performance. These are up-close, ‘open lesson’ style masterclasses open to a public audience, offering priceless insights into the secrets that lie behind a great performance – and unique learning opportunities for music lovers and aspiring musicians alike.
Known for his unconventional path and deep artistic integrity, French pianist and composer Lucas Debargue has become one of the most intriguing pianists of his generation. Since gaining international attention at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition,he has performed with leading orchestras across Europe, North America and Asia, and recorded an acclaimed catalogue for Sony Classical that ranges from Scarlatti and Ravel to his own compositions.
A self-taught musician in his early years, Debargue is admired for his analytical insight, improvisatory instinct and commitment to exploring music beyond convention.
