Rosemarie Milsom has been appointed as the Director of Adelaide Writers’ Week for the 2027–2029 festivals. A former journalist and broadcaster, and a respected leader in Australian literary culture, she is the long-serving founding Director of Newcastle Writers Festival, which she established in 2013. Milsom replaces Louise Adler, who resigned along with members of the board following the disinvitation of Australian-Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah from the 2026 festival. A mass exodus of writers led to the event being cancelled.

This month, clarinettist and educator Lloyd Van’t Hoff takes up the position of Artistic Director of Adelaide Youth Orchestras, succeeding Music Director Keith Crellin, who retires after more than two decades with the organisation. Currently Head of Woodwind at the Elder Conservatorium, Van’t Hoff came to national prominence after winning the 2015 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year. He performs widely as a soloist and chamber musician and holds leadership roles with several ensembles.
