When Broadway superstar Audra McDonald performed in Australia in 2015, Limelight extolled her virtues in a five-star review, describing her voice as “heavenly” and her technique as “flawless”.

“Coupled with a unique ability to word paint, she is able to move seamlessly from the operatic to the popular. McDonald is also refreshingly unburdened with the unappealing airs and graces of a diva.”

The Sydney Morning Herald was equally impressed, saying that her singing was “as finely nuanced and sophisticated as that of a great instrumentalist . . . Every choice she made, whether of dynamics, phrasing, timbre or breath control, was exquisite, and entirely in the service of making the songs touch her audience.”

McDonald returns to Australia next month and this time, as well as performing in Melbourne and Sydney, she will make her debut in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.
