The Australian stage and screen actor Camilla Ah Kin has died, aged 58. She passed away in the Sacred Heart Hospice, Darlinghurst on 9 June after a long illness.

A graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1989, Ah Kin was well-known to stage and screen audiences. She performed with most of Australia’s major companies, including Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Melbourne Theatre Company, Black Swan, Ensemble Theatre and Griffin Theatre Company. She was a Sydney Fringe Festival Ambassador in 2016. 

Ah Kin contributed strongly to productions such as The Hansard Monologues, Jump for Jordan, Silent Disco and The Maids. She played Cleopatra in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra, presented by Sport for Jove.

Ah Kin also appeared in films including Holding the Man, The Greenhouse and The Rooster and was a regular performer in TV series such as Going HomeHalifax f.p.Blue Heelers and All Saints

She was a passionate activist within the entertainment industry for 30 years and was awarded a MEAA Gold Honour Badge earlier this year.
