Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

The world premiere stage adaptations of two South Australian books, a brand-new production of Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie, and a classic tragicomedy by Edward Albee – these are some of the highlights of the State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2023 season.

“Following on from our 50th birthday, State Theatre Company South Australia looks to our next 50 years with one of the most exciting and diverse seasons the company has ever presented,” said Mitchell Butel, launching the season at His Majesty’s Theatre in Adelaide.

Speaking to Limelight, Butel says: “When putting the season together, what emerged was that most of the works were in some way about seeing family through a new lens. Families being made, growing, being challenged, being ruptured, being healed. No person is an island and the complexity of how we interact with our families, our lovers and our communities is at the heart of what we’ll be offering on our stages.”
