Paul Wee is an Australian achiever who decided to keep his day job and juggle two brilliant careers. By day he is an in-demand barrister in London, specialising in commercial law and investor-state arbitration. Signed by the prestigious Swedish BIS label, he has recorded two universally acclaimed albums – Charles-Valentin Alkan’s notoriously difficult Symphony for Solo Piano coupled with his Concerto for Solo Piano, released in 2019, and Sigismond Thalberg’s L’Art du chant applique au piano, which came out the following year to rave reviews both here and in the UK. Now he turns his attention to solo piano versions of two of the greatest works in the Classical canon – Franz Liszt’s arrangement of Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony and Alkan’s transcription of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 20.
