The Hush Foundation does wonderful things for both sick children and their families, and so far they’ve produced more than 20 albums that are designed to restore and rejuvenate. This latest release in the series is from classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan, and is also dedicated to healthcare workers during the pandemic.

Grigoryan says that “each of these pieces is a note of thanks, a little letter of gratitude, for all of the extraordinary work they continue to do in looking after us”.

These are all very admirable things (and remember that buying a copy also gives money to The Hush Foundation’s work, too!), but I found that quite a few of these tracks sit in the same languid, drifting space. Aglow uses the same kind of floating night-time open-string chords as Winter City Lights, as does Chrysalis and Prentice Street; they’re all lovely, but there are certainly a lot of gentle, faintly jazz-tinged arpeggios across the album.
