Australian cellist Peet Morrison (b. 1966) studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest and at Indiana University with legendary Hungarian/American virtuoso János Starker. After lengthy posts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Morrison is now based in Copenhagen where he has been working with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra for 16 years; he also continues to perform with the Australian World Orchestra.

I Thought I Saw Your Face is his first solo album, and its ten works include five commissioned especially by Morrison. Among these are Brett Dean’s Stone, scored for seven celli and typical of Dean’s exquisitely delicate, mesmerising writing for strings.
