First Nations soprano, composer and educator Deborah Cheetham Fraillon has joined Sydney Conservatorium of Music as the inaugural Elizabeth Todd Chair of Vocal Studies. Relocating from Melbourne, Cheetham Fraillon has been appointed as Professor of Practice (Vocal Studies), and will lecture and mentor students in vocal and opera studies and composition. She will also conduct research delivered as performance practice.

“Music is the means by which we may know the world and give meaning to everything in it. Music is a map to our identity,” Cheetham Fraillon told students.
