Edward Walton was just 13 years old when he took out the Piccolo Violino Magico competition, held in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, in 2019. He went on to win prizes around the world and was recently announced as a semi-finalist in the Junior section of the Menuhin Competition, taking place online this month.

Though he’s just 15 now, the violinist already has more than a decade of training under his belt. “I grew up hearing my older sister play the violin and loved it instantly,” he tells Limelight. “So when I was about three, I started learning with the Suzuki method.”

These days Walton is studying with Dr Robin Wilson, who is on the faculty at the Australian National Academy of Music. “I really am so fortunate to be studying with Dr Robin Wilson,” Walton says. “He is so kind, motivating, and supportive.
