In the war against superficiality, guitarist Miloš Karadaglić had two handicaps to overcome: he was too handsome and he made things look too easy. Four albums later, he continues to confound with profound artistry and a determination to reach an audience through judicious choice of repertoire.

For half a century now, the music of The Beatles has been a rich resource for classical composers, the tunes ubiquitous and durable enough to function almost as secular hymns. Given the broad appeal of the classical guitar, it’s natural that composers for that instrument such as Leo Brouwer and Toru Takemitsu should have taken to this material with alacrity. Takemitsu’s arrangement of Yesterday features on Karadaglić’s Blackbird: The Beatles Album. But the majority of the guitar arrangements are by that superb exponent of the instrument, Sérgio Assad.
