As we enter the Sydney Opera House Studio, there’s a clawfoot bath standing on the central circular stage, bathed in red light. Fans of La Clique will immediately know what’s to come – especially when a plastic sheet is unfolded to shield people sitting in the front row.

The original iteration of La Clique included ‘Bath Boy’ David O’Mer in a fabulously sexy acrobatic act in which he performed on aerial straps, splashing the crowd as he spun through the air.

The time around, it’s ‘Bath Girl’. In her La Clique debut, Canadian aerialist Tuedon Ariri has reimagined the act especially for this 20th-anniversary edition as a homage to the original. As water sprays from her hair, the audience shrieks with laughter, while applauding her incredible athleticism. It’s the perfect start for a La Clique celebration.
