Welcome to the Australian Art Music playlist! A monthly playlist of classical, jazz, experimental and electronic music focused on contemporary Australian composers, musicians and sound artists.

Musicians need support to keep creating the music you love. So, moving forward I’ll be hosting the playlist on Bandcamp and BuyMusic.Club where you can listen to and buy digital or physical copies of your favourites each month. I was casting around for a theme for this month’s playlist and amidst Melbourne’s perchance for fog lately and few late post-concert nights I was drawn to clear night skies in the deep of winter. Some of this month’s piece are explicitly about stars and night, or light, radiance and refraction, others are (unapologetically) very vibes based. 

Many of the voices here are new, or new to me at least, and it’s always a pleasure to welcome to new people to the playlist (and find a more discographies to plunder!)

Some music is freshly released in the past month, and others have been out for a few years, but all of it is incredible, atmospheric and captures that twinkle in its own way.

Enjoy a diverse mix of classical and jazz works with a slight dash of video game influences, piano, cello and percussion being common threads amongst out constellation of colours.

Regardless of when this playlist finds you, day or night, warm or cold, I hope you enjoy this listening experience and are inspired to check out some of the albums and discographies associated with these tracks, there are plenty more gems to uncover.
