Hobart’s controversial midwinter festival Dark Mofo has appointed Chris Twite as its new Artistic Director. Appointed for a three-year term, he will present his first Dark Mofo in 2024. Twite has previously worked for festivals and organisations such as Sydney Festival, Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Festival, Red Bull Music Festival and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

“I am thrilled to direct the next chapter of Dark Mofo,” said Twite. “After a decade at the forefront of culture in Australia, it remains a vital and exciting event that realises ambitious projects and raises the profiles of both international and local artists, while delivering a world-class cultural experience each winter.” Leigh Carmichael will end his decade-long tenure as Dark Mofo’s Creative Director with the 2023 festival.

Robbi James has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer and Director of Critical Stages Touring, the Sydney-based national theatre touring company. James has worked with CST for the past four years, serving under the previous CEO Chris Bendall as Marketing and Engagement Manager.
