Leading Australian harpist Alice Giles has been chosen to head the World Harp Congress, the world’s largest harp organisation, with members from over 50 countries. She will take over the leadership of the WHC Board following this year’s congress in Toronto, Canada, running 28 July – 3 August. Established in 1981, the WHC seeks to promote the exchange of ideas, encourage new compositions for the harp, and organise performances and workshops around the world. Giles was the Artistic Director of the 2014 Congress held in Sydney.

Krystalla Pearce has joined Theatre Works as its new Artistic Director and CEO. Since returning to Melbourne from New York City in 2018, Pearce has worked extensively across the independent theatre landscape as a director, dramaturg, producer and teaching artist. Most recently, she produced Ray Lawler’s Doll Trilogy at Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre.
