Lyndon Terracini is to leave the role of Artistic Director of Opera Australia at the end of October, rather than the end of 2023 as originally announced. Speaking to Limelight, Terracini said he had begun to feel increasingly uncomfortable at the thought of two artistic directors in the building, and he wants to focus on the next phase of his career. Terracini was appointed to the role in 2009. He was officially farewelled at the opening night of Attila at the Sydney Opera House on 29 October.

Meanwhile, Rod Sims has stepped into the role of Chair of the OA Board. He replaces Professor Glyn Davis, who was handpicked by the Albanese Government to become the Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Sims was Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for 11 years from August 2011 to March 2022. He is currently Professor of Public Policy at the Australian National University, and Chair of the Competition Research Policy Network at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, Paris.
