The Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) will mark its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a year-long storytelling initiative culminating in a gala concert in Melbourne.

The celebrations begin with the launch of 30 Stories for 30 Years, a historical “time capsule” project capturing three decades of the academy’s life through the voices of those who have shaped it. Musicians, alumni, guest artists, donors and public figures are among the 30 contributors, each reflecting on a single year since ANAM’s founding in 1996.

The first instalment, by flautist and current ANAM musician Emica Taylor, was released on 25 March, officially opening the anniversary program. New stories will be published weekly over 30 weeks across ANAM’s website, social media channels and live events.

ANAM managing director Nick Bailey said the milestone offered an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s “short and colourful life”.
