Eivind Aadland has extended his contract as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra by four years. The Norwegian maestro was appointed to the role in 2020 and will continue in the position until the end of 2026.

Announcing the news, TSO Chair Don Challen said, “The start of Eivind’s tenure coincided with the early days of the pandemic, but the TSO, nonetheless, has thrived under his artistic leadership. His presentation of a Beethoven symphony cycle across 2021–22 was a particular highlight.”

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has appointed Kate Suthers as its new Concertmaster from the start of 2023. Born in Sydney, Suthers studied with György Pauk at London’s Royal Academy of Music and has held positions in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. S he has also played for English National Opera, Scottish Ensemble, Aurora Orchestra, the Hallé and Australian World Orchestra.
