Queensland Symphony Orchestra: Hymn to Mother Earth
Principal Guest Conductor Johannes Fritzsch leads this celebration of the natural world and the music it has inspired for centuries. The program includes Peter Sculthorpe’s From Uluru, depicting the heartland of outback Australia, and The Moldau from Smetana’s Má vlast, journeying through the composer’s Czech homeland. Lili Boulanger is represented by her playful Of a Spring Morning, her final composition before her untimely death in 1918, alongside a selection from Respighi’s The Birds and Mozart’s last Piano Concerto, with its final theme also appearing in the composer’s song “Sehnsucht nach dem Frühling” (Longing for Spring).

Four Winds Music Festival
From neo-classical to neo-soul, music will echo across Barragga Bay this Easter long weekend. Speak Percussion leads Thomas Meadowcroft’s March Static, a work for massed musicians that reframes the marching band as a celebration of peaceful gathering rather than military might.
