Karen Quinlan has been appointed as the CEO of Arts Centre Melbourne. Quinlan, who is the current CEO of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and the former Director of Bendigo Art Gallery, will take up her new position on 3 October. It promises to be a challenging time for Quinlan and her team, with Arts Centre Melbourne entering a massive redevelopment project, costing $1.7 billion.

After more than six years as CEO of Melbourne Recital Centre, Euan Murdoch will step down at the end of February 2023 and return home to New Zealand. The recruitment process to find his successor is underway.

Professor Anna Goldsworthy, the award-winning classical pianist, writer and festival director, has been appointed to lead the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music, becoming its first female Director. Goldsworthy was Music Director of the Coriole Music Festival between 2019 and 2022. Simon Cobcroft has been appointed as her successor, taking up the role for three years from 2023. Cobcroft is a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, with performance credits in Australia and overseas. Since 2014, he has been Principal Cello with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
